Competition Law

Competition law, primarily regulated under Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition, is a branch of law that aims to ensure balanced competition in the free market and prevent the abuse of dominance by dominant undertakings in the market, aiming to serve the public interest. Although the birth and development of competition law date back to the early 20th century, its importance has increased significantly in recent years due to the speed and scope of current economic activities.

As specified in Article 2 of the Law, any enterprise engaged in or affecting competition in goods and services markets within the borders of the Republic of Turkey, and any agreements, practices, and decisions of those enterprises that prevent, distort, or restrict competition, as well as actions and behaviors that abuse the dominant position of enterprises dominant in the market, and any kind of legal transactions that have the nature of merger and acquisition that would significantly reduce competition, are within the scope of competition law and Law No. 4054.
